Plumbagin Extraction: A Green Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

A green study was undertaken for the extraction of plumbagin, an important natural naphthoquinone, from roots Plumbago pulchella Boiss. In first stage, four solvents were comparatively evaluated, acetone, n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol; attending Principle #5, only (ethyl acetate acetone) underscored. a second step, considering # 6, various alternative activating modes assessed: two electromagnetic methods, microwave (MW) near-infrared (NIR), in addition to mechanical approaches, ultrasound (US), tribochemistry-mechanochemistry (TB-MCh). These studied comparison classical mantle heating (MH) finally with maceration (M). MW US-MH ensued better modes, EtOAc (green) n-hexane (non-green) displayed best yields (0.027% 0.025%, respectively). Focusing on #11, monitoring quantification extractions performed by GC-MS employing 8-hydroxyquinoline as reference. Some other involved Principles (#1, #3, #7, #12) will be commented discussion. As complement, statistical technique based analysis variance (ANOVA) response surface methodology used establish degree dependence amount plumbagin extracted parameters time root, validation process carried out according ICH Q2 R2 2022 guidelines. Finally, it is convenient highlight that target plant native Mexico, profound literature search, no chemical information Boiss accessible.

Synthesis and Study of Antitubercular Activity of Plumbagin Analogs

Tuberculosis has been a serious public health problem for a long time. With the advent of anti-tubercular antibiotics in the late 1940s, the battle against tuberculosis seemed to have been won but the multi-drug resistance; re-infection and latent infection have become the major cause of concern for the treatment of tuberculosis all over the world. In the present study derivatives of Plumbagin,...

Green Propellant: A Study

The present study focuses simply on propellants which are environment friendly i.e. Green propellants. In Propulsion Systems, there are two ingredients burned together which are fuel & oxidizer and the resultant energy is used to propel the system. In composite solid rocket propellants, Ammonium perchlorate (AP) is being used extensively which has its own disadvantages i.e. HCl release during i...

Plumbagin quantification in roots of Plumbago scandens L. obtained by different extraction techniques.

The Plumbago genus belongs to the Plumbaginaceae family and it is known due to its variety of biological uses, most of them attributed to the presence of naphthoquinones. Plumbagin is a naturally occurring naphthoquinone that can be obtained from roots of Plumbago scandens L. In order to find out the better technique for plumbagin extraction, were applied: static maceration, dynamic maceration,...

Essential Oils: From Conventional to Green Extraction

As previously described, EOs are defined as products extracted from natural plants by physical means only such as distillation, cold press and dry distillation. However, the loss of some components and the degradation of some unsaturated compounds by thermal effects or by hydrolysis can be generated by these conventional extraction techniques. These disadvantages have attracted the recent resea...

A new method for venom extraction from venomous fish, Green Scat

Scatophagus argus argus (Green Scat) is a pretty aquarium fish. Its hard spines are venomous and can cause painful injury. In this study 60 specimens of Green Scat were collected periodically from coastal waters of Boushehr (south of Iran) from May 2011 to April 2012. Anatomical features of venomous spines were investigated. Scat venom was extracted from the spines in a new manner for keeping t...
